MLOSS ICML 2010 workshop?

Posted by Soeren Sonnenburg on December 16, 2009

We are thinking of organizing an ICML 2010 workshop on machine learning open source software. Does anyone here think this is a great idea like we do? If you would see this happen, please contact us and help us organize it.

Thanks!

I haven't been to any OSS workshops or seen summaries of them. What's their purpose? -Tom

Well, for the last workshops at nips 2006 (see http://mloss.org/workshop/nips06/ ) and nips 2008 (see http://mloss.org/workshop/nips08/ ) the idea was to connect researchers that write MLOSS (to build a community; to move from isolated projects into collaborations; to define interchange standards etc).

It is no different for ICML 2010. In addition to the above we would like to discuss JMLR-MLOSS review criteria, but creating a community remains the most important topic.
